DESCRIPTION
ALCO Air-Guard is a
self-adhering air barrier and flashing membrane. It is a roll product,
nominally 40 mils thick, consisting of a self adhering rubberized asphalt
membrane laminated with a polyethylene film and reinforced with a
fiberglass mat. A film release liner prevents it from sticking to itself
in the roll and allows for easy installation. Air-Guard is available in
the following widths: 12", 18", 24", 36".

PREPARATION
Before application, surface must be smooth, clean, dry
and free form oil, form release agents, loose scaling, rust, dirt, dust
and debris. Surface must also be frost-free. Strike masonry joints flush.
Concrete surfaces must be smooth and without large voids, spalled areas or
sharp protrusions. Where a curing compound is used, they must be clear
resin based (without oil, wax or pigments). All surfaces should be primed
with ALCO Roof and Concrete Primer.
APPLICATION
ALCO AIR-GUARD air barrier and flashing membrane
can be applied at a minimum temperature of 40° F. (4° C.). Apply to a
primed surface by removing the release film and rolling the membrane
firmly into place. Remove the release film as material is being used.
Leave no fish mouths or wrinkles. Use a utility knife for all necessary
cutting. Overlaps should be 2". Use a termination bar to tie into the
wall system. Use ALCO 24/7 Flashing Cement for sealing top edges of
termination bar.
Note: A low application temperature (20° - 60° F) material is also

subjected to continuous sunlight or temperatures in excess of 170°
F. * Do not apply primer or AIR-GUARD to a damp,

WARRANTY
We warrant our materials to be of good quality and will
replace materials found defective, providing, however, that the buyer
shall examine the materials when received and promptly notify us of any
defects before the materials are used or incorporated into a structure for
which they are intended. Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, this
warranty shall extend only to comply with specifications of materials
manufactured by and published by ALCO-NVC Inc., and made available to the
buyer at request. We cannot warrant nor in any way guarantee particular
methods, use or applications, nor can we warrant that the materials will
be suitable for any intended use. This warranty is in lieu of all others
expressed or implied and may not be extended by representatives, written
sales or information or drawings. Nor do our distributors or salesmen or
any other representatives of distributors or of this company have
any authority to extend any guarantee beyond that outlined above or to
waive the limitations of the seller's liability.
