DESCRIPTION ALCO Alumagard
Non-Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating consists of a high quality oxidized
cutback asphalt and premium quality aluminum pigments which flake and
float to the surface upon application. The thin consistency allows for
easy application.
USE : Excellent over metal roofs :
Recommended for asphalt roofs and Modified Bitumen Membrane
ADVANTAGES » Lowers surface temperature of roof by as
much as 15° F. » Can turn away over 70% of harmful UV
rays » Easy Application » Excellent
Coverage » Economical » Premium 3#
performance » UL Approved » FM Approved
» Energy Star Partner
PREPARATION The roof surface must be completely dry and free
of dirt, dust and debris before application. Be sure that all necessary
repairs are done to the roof surface. Metal surfaces must be wire brushed
and swept clean. This will ensure proper adhesion. In some cases ALCO
Primer may be advisable. Allow primer to dry for 24 hours before aluminum
application. ALCO 24/7 Flashing Cement can be used to repair flashing,
blisters or voids.
APPLICATION Use directly from the container. Mix contents
thoroughly to insure complete dispersion of aluminum pigments. DO NOT
THIN. Pour Alumagard Non-Fibered coating on roof, a little at a time, and
brush like any roof coating, brushing in one direction only. Over brushing
causes some of the aluminum sheen to lessen, resulting in inferior
reflective qualities.
For best results, apply on a warm (60° F), sunny day with no rain in the
forecast. The presence of moisture will create a rapid "browning
out". The warm temperatures will soften the asphalt content and allow
the aluminum pigments to rise to the surface for maximum reflectivity.
New asphalt roof surfaces should weather a minimum of 90 days before
applying Alumagard. However, Alumagard may be applied over ALCO emulsion
roof coatings after curing (between 5 - 10 days) without staining.
