DESCRIPTION ALCO 269 Plus is UL
approved and formulated from choice asphalts, solvents and non-asbestos
fillers. It is processed to a creamy smooth consistency for ease of
application. This material is specifically designed as a cold process
adhesive for adhering SBS modified membrane. When cured, its bonding
strength becomes as tough and elastomeric as the membrane itself.
USE : Adheres SBS Modified Bitumen membranes - base
and ply sheets : Excellent conventional adhesive for BUR ply sheets
and granulated cap sheets
ADVANTAGES » Easy Application »
Multi-purpose adhesive » UL approved » Ready to
use from the container » Elastomeric - moves with
substrate » Excellent resistance to water and
weather
PREPARATION Surface to be adhered should be clean, dry and
free from oil, grease, dirt or any debris that will inhibit bonding
capabilities.
APPLICATION Stir material before use. Material can be
brushed or notch squeegeed. The adhesive sets by the evaporation of the
solvent. Therefore, the adhesive should be allowed to cure for 5 - 15
minutes before membrane application for maximum adhesion. Temperature at
time of application should be above 40° F. and membrane temperatures
should not exceed 140° F.
Starting at the low end of the roof, apply material to the substrate
3" - 4" wider than the roll. Unroll membrane in the set
adhesive, making sure that it is laying flat. At the end laps, overlap
6" ensuring that the adhesive oozes out to bond at the end laps.
Continue application making sure the membrane overlaps 4" at the side
lap line. Roll all side laps and end laps, making sure a sufficient amount
of adhesive is applied to the laps so that a visible bead of adhesive is
present at the lap edges. Repeat above steps until roof surface is
covered.
