DESCRIPTION
ALCO SHIELD Ice and Water Protector is a fiberglass reinforced, polymer
modified asphalt membrane used as a shingle underlayment
for sloped roofs. It resists the penetration of water due to wind driven rain
or ice dam back up.
USE
ALCO SHIELD placed under shingles resists the penetration of water due to
wind driven rain or ice dam back ups. Can also be used under slate, tile or
metal during application of a new roof or during re-roofing, after the
removal of old roofing material.

PREPARATION
Sweep roof deck to remove dirt and debris. The roof deck must be clean,
smooth and dry prior to application. On re-roofing jobs make sure surface to
be applied is secure. Check weather to insure that there is no rain in the
forecast and the temperature is above 40° F.
APPLICATION
ALCO SHIELD is applied directly to the surface of the roof. Temperatures
above 40° F. allow the self adhesive quality of this product to work. This
material is a vapor barrier and must be provided with proper ventilation to
reduce excessive ice damming or interior condensation.
COLD WEATHER APPLICATION: Mechanically fasten to position membrane until it
has bonded to the roof.

LIMITATIONS
* Do not apply over shingles or underlayment of any
sort * Do not use on damp surfaces * Do not
permanently expose ALCO SHIELD to sunlight. Ultraviolet light will degrade
this material if exposed for more than 30 days * Do not store at
temperatures above 110° F.
