SECTION 6     HEALTH HAZARD DATA

Primary Routes of Entry:  Inhalation, Skin, Ingestion, Eyes

   Inhalation:  Overexposure to vapor may result in irritation to respiratory tract. Prolonged exposure in
      significant excess of permissible air concentrations can result in acute toxic effects, such as
      respiratory difficulty, convulsions and possible cardiovascular collapse.

   Ingestion:  Irritation of the gastrointestinal tract followed by nausea and vomiting. Abnormal
      discomfort, rapid pulse, convulsive movements.

   Skin:  Contact with skin can result in irritation which, when not washed off or when accentuated by
      sunlight, can result in minor burns.

 

    Eyes – Overexposure to product vapors can result in irritation. Eye contact with product will result in
      irritation, which in the absence of recommended first aid can result in minor burns to eyes.

Unusual Chronic Toxicity – NTP – Carcinogenic

   Prolonged and repeated skin exposure over many years in the absence of recommended hygiene
   practices may lead to changes in skin pigmentation, benign skin growths and may, in some cases,
   result in skin cancer. Additionally, inhalation of vapors over a period of several years may present lung
   cancer hazard.

Asphalt:  The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that there is
      sufficient evidence for the carcinogenicity of extracts of steam-refined bitumens, air-refined
      bitumens and pooled mixtures of steam- and air-refined bitumens in experimental animals.
      Possible skin cancer hazard based on tests with laboratory animals. This product may contain
      polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, some of which may be types that have been shown to cause skin
      cancer in laboratory animals. This product has not been tested as a whole for all potential health
      effects. It may have other health hazards related to its components. Skin contact, breathing of mists,
      fumes or vapors should be reduced to a minimum to avoid any ill effects. Chronic health effects
      would not be expected as long as good hygiene and proper safety precautions are practiced.

   California Proposition 65:  This material contains detectable amounts of some chemicals known

      to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive effects.

 

SECTION 7     FIRST AID PROCEDURE

Skin:  Clean affected area with a waterless hand cleaner, then wash area thoroughly with soap and

   water. If redness, etc., persists, consult a physician.

Eyes:  Flush with large amounts of water. Consult a physician.

Inhalation:  Remove person from area. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing has

   stopped, give artificial respiration. Seek immediate medical aid.

Ingestion:  Do not induce vomiting. Consult a physician immediately.

 

SECTION 8     PREVENTATIVE MEASURES/SAFE HANDLING & USE

Leak and Spill Procedure:  Dike material with earth, saw dust or sand. The material will revert to an
   asphalt state and can be removed with absorption material. Keep out of waterways and sewers.

Waste Disposal:  Dispose in an approved landfill in accordance with Federal, state and local

   regulations.

Precautions in Handling & Storage:  DO NOT FREEZE. Do not heat this material. This material is for
   exterior use only. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Practice good personal hygiene. Read

   label of product in its entirety before use. DO NOT HEAT OR THIN THIS MATERIAL!

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!

Gloves:  Oil resistant recommended

Eye Protection:  Chemical splash proof goggles recommended. If material is sprayed, goggles are a must.

SECTION 13     CLEAN UP AND DISPOSAL

Practice good personal hygiene. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Use control protection such as chemical splash proof goggles, oil resistant gloves, barrier cream. Clean tools and equipment with kerosene, adhering to manufacturer’s precautions. DO NOT USE GASOLINE OR NAPHTHA. Follow proper container management in disposing of containers. CERCLA amendment on disposal of containers should be followed.
